| Quarterly Mission Report 2010 Chennai May 1, 11 Dear brethren, The summer is in and the heat is felt. The state of Tamil Nadu voted to elect a government on the 13 th April. The results are to be out on the 13th May. The last 5 years Christians in this state enjoyed good freedom to practice their faith. Two water wells were drilled and dedicated to the people of Puttur Kandiaga and Gangunta. The people are so happy for what the church has done to the village. They told the church is doing that which was not done by the civil authorities. Healing Hands International of Nashville, Tennessee has financially helped for these wells and another 4 wells more for another 4 villages.Nisha went through breast cancer surgery and is under chemo therapy. Anthony of Permabur died of cancer. Viswanthan, his wife and 2 children were baptized a month ago. He passed on to the other world in such a short time after baptism. But every one are encouraged that he was born again before his death. We are very thankful to God for the fruit he has been giving us from the year beginning. 388 souls were baptized into Christ this year from 81 locations. 5 souls put on Christ last Sunday from the place where I preach. The restoration of 4 souls back to Christ brings us much joy. 52 Gospel meetings were conducted. Many thousands got the opportunity to hear the soul saving gospel. 8 cataract surgeries were done through the eye camp in Vettucolony and 137 at Faith hospital. 82 people received spectacles and they are thankful to the church. S. Beulah and her mother began to come to church from March. She came to Faith Hospital for medical help and now is touched by Christ’s love. Students who were graduated from the Bible College have gone to new locations for the preaching of the gospel. 5 of them reported baptisms in their locations. Praise God for the five new churches. Upendra, one of the teachers of the Bible College went to his home town for summer vacation. He visited with several churches in the state of Orrissa and brought the report of church growth in every place he went. Thank you for your prayers for that state. Christians suffer persecution in Orrissa. Hichung Newme from the North east visited us and told churches are growing in that area. 6 Men from that area was graduated from the Bible College this year and it is a blessing to have 6 more workers. Hichung has gone to Vellore hosptial for checkup after his surgery last year. The doctors said he well recovered from his brain tumor surgery and is thankful for prayers. Vijay Kumar began preaching for the church at Bilai from the 3 rd week of March. As they lost their previous preacher by death the church was seeking for a new one. They are very positive that the church will continue to grow strong there. This is the place where the whole Lutheran church was converted to Christ 12 years ago. Another mark about Bilai: that is the place where I lost my shoes while returning from the gospel meetings.February 2010 Srirama Reddy from Guntur was baptized into Christ with his household. He was very desirous of starting a church at the higher cast Hindu community. He donated the land and 50 truck load of blue metal for the construction of a building. By God’s help we gave 50,000 rupees nearly $1200 for the completion of the work. They need help for plastering, electrical work and flooring. They have nearly 40 people to meet there now. Summer meeting of Preachers took place on the 16 th April. Preachers were immensely encouraged. They reported addition of members in their local congregations. They have requested for Bibles, Bible lessons and bikes for their work. 2 widows were helped with sewing machines each, helped 5 widows with a goat each and distributed books to the school going children. At Senoor 2 goats were distributed to the widows after a gospel meeting. A lady who came to the gospel meeting not only heard the gospel but saw what the church does to the needy widows. She went to her home and brought a goat as a donation to the church. It was given to another widow. The donor of the goat and 4 others were baptized into Christ the same day. Baptism took place at a field of a man who has backslidden a few years ago. A ditch was dug and water pumped into it. The newly baptized encouraged him to come back to God and the church.
