What an awesome God we serve! Haiti 2010

God was definitely behind every second and every thought of this trip.  We saw Him working every day through the people, places and events leading up to and during this trip.   There were just too many improbable or impossible things falling into place for God not to be moving and providing.  Our original dates in February were moved up and it is evident now that because of the earthquake we were to be needed in Cap-Haitian a few weeks sooner.  Mid February would be too late!  I was reminded several times to have patience and to trust in God’s wisdom and His timing, to keep my eyes, ears and heart open to His calling.  I was convicted several times in my weakness and failure to do just that.

Northern Haiti had not seemed to change much from a year earlier when I was there.  Perhaps it was a little greener, and with 80% of the Haiti population being farmers, more agriculture was taking place since recovering from the hurricanes and tropical storms of the fall of 2008.  But the gloom, the poverty and filth, the sights, sounds and smells were the same.  Yet with the earthquake in PAP and the refugees pouring into Cap-Haitian, the desperation was even grater.  God was getting us there NOW, precisely when we were needed.

People still needed help to survive physically – which we did in Cap and in the surrounding villages and even far into the jungle mountain areas but emotionally and spiritually these people were in desperation. Everyone it seemed had lost someone, sometimes losing whole families in the earthquake. Survivors were reaching Cap by the 100’s and perhaps thousands, as there was really no way to count, everyday we were there.  The look in many of their eyes was indescribable. After literally losing everything, they are in desperate need of your prayers and financial support.

God assembled an incredible team of brothers and sisters to serve together this year and I was doubly blessed to have my wife Kathy along.  Even after my sharing with her the stories and pictures from last year, she was surprised by the contrast between the terrible living conditions and their incredible showing of faith and trust in God and Jesus to provide.                                                          – Kevin Frank,    Gillette Wyoming.
